Capricorn One (1977)

A bit too close to the nerve, maybe. Shot just a few years after the Moon Landings ended, and the conspiracy theories surrounding that, Capricorn One never had co-operation from Nasa in making this movie.

This film tells the story of Earth’s first manned mission to Mars, on which a fatal flaw is detected before launch. Without disclosing too much of the plot, the story involves investigative journalism and twists and turns on the journey, as we piece together the puzzle along with the journalists.

The movie is a standard Type 1, in as much as it is a linear timeline film, with a simple, easy to follow story, which eventually leads to a conclusion. It is well directed and written, and the characters have enough depth to make this a good general viewing movie.

It does make you think about the theories surrounding the Moon landings!
